FAQ

Questions, answered.

Which reporting frameworks does FinLens support?
Four, out of the box: Schedule III Ind AS, Indian GAAP (Schedule III AS Division I), IFRS and US GAAP. Each renders as a full tabbed set — Balance Sheet, P&L, Cash Flow, Schedules, Notes and Audit report — appropriate to that standard. You map your GLs once and every framework renders from the same data; you can also group any of your own report folders into a single tabbed report from the configuration screen.
Can I build custom report templates beyond the standard frameworks?
Yes. Report Builder lets you clone any framework or start from blank, add row keys (line / header / subtotal / formula), set indentation and bold, and compose formulas from other rows with sign and multiplier. Cycle detection prevents circular references. Organise templates in folders and show a folder as one tabbed report — no code needed.
How does GL mapping work?
Your Chart of Accounts loads from Tally, ERP, or CSV. In the Mapping screen, drag each GL onto a row key from the active template. Save once and FinLens refreshes every period's rollups automatically — across statements, the dashboard, and all analysis screens. Reupload a corrected TB and the rollups recompute against the existing mappings.
Do you support Excel uploads, or only CSV?
Both. CSV, XLSX, and XLS files are accepted. We auto-detect GL Code, GL Name, and balance columns — and handle the Debit/Credit two-column format, Closing-Balance-only files, multi-period FY files, and long-format dimensional uploads with automatic GL creation.
Can FinLens handle multi-entity group consolidation?
Yes. Add each company under a parent tenant, upload its TB, and FinLens rolls up group-level statements with FX conversion, intercompany eliminations, and denomination handling. Users with access to multiple companies get a one-click company switcher; single-company users land straight in their company.
What is the AI Query Builder, and is my data safe with it?
It lets your team ask plain-English questions of the mapped financials. It is disabled by default, enabled per tenant, gated by a per-user permission, and runs on your own Anthropic API key configured per company — with a logged history of every query. We never train models on customer data.
How does the Excel add-in work?
Issue a token from the app, install the add-in, and pull live FinLens figures into your own workbooks — the numbers refresh from the platform instead of being pasted. There is also a REST API and a one-click fully linked financials workbook export (TB → Schedules → P&L / BS / CF).
How does pricing and billing work?
Pay-as-you-go: usage is metered monthly and billed from a prepaid wallet — no annual contracts, no per-seat lock-in. Plans are shown in INR, USD, AED, and GBP, and there is a free 30-day trial with no card required.
How is my data secured?
TLS in transit, encryption at rest, company-scoped role-based permissions down to view-only access, and a full audit log of every upload, mapping change, and period action with user, IP, and timestamp. We never train models on customer data. SOC 2 audit is in progress; documentation available on request.
